As a composer, Johnson has written over 600 titles including CHRISTMAS IS THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR, which was performed in Radio City Music Hall's annual Christmas Spectacular for nine years. As a theatrical composer, his musical RED RED ROSE (on the life and poetry of Robert Burns) won a 1996 Musical Of The Year award in Denmark. He also is the composer of numerous inspirational musicals including HERE COMES THE SON, and BEN HUR which premiered in Orlando last year. As a record producer/arranger he's been nominated for numerous Grammys and won Dove Awards. He is particularly known for his early a cappella vocal albums which influence jazz/gospel groups like TAKE SIX. As arranger/conductor, Johnson has worked with many of the finest pop artists including Whitney Houston, Michael Bolton, Donna Summer, Andy Williams, Al Jarreau, Petula Clark, and many others. He was the musical director for the prestigious American Cinema Awards in Beverly Hills from 1985 to 1992, conducting tributes to Elizabeth Taylor, Gregory Peck, Bette Davis, Gene Kelly, Shirley Temple, Jimmy Stewart and a host of others. Paul Johnson is a native of the Pacific Northwest. He spent 25 years of his
career as a composer/arranger/producer/publisher in Southern California and
currently resides in Seattle.
