A native of Redlands, California, Greg holds degrees
in conducting from Chapman College and the University of Southern California.
He attended the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, and is an ordained minister
in The United Methodist Church. Prior to coming to Pasadena Presbyterian
Church in 1993, he served in a similar capacity at First United Methodist Church
in Boulder, Colorado, where he reinvigorated that church’s choirs, established
a community concert series and a founded a resident chamber orchestra. Greg believes that a primary task of this generation
of church leaders is to bring about a creative and pastoral renewal of the
musical repertoire of mainline Protestant worship. Under his leadership,
Pasadena Presbyterian Church has instituted monthly prayer services in the style
of the Taizi community, greatly expanded its Sunday morning repertoire and
produced a regional worship and music conference in 1999. A compact disc
recording he made with the Kirk Choir of Pasadena Presbyterian Church was
featured on the radio show Pipedreams, heard on the Public Radio
International network. He has served as the Dean of the Pasadena Chapter of the
American Guild of Organists and in various capacities on a number of
professional and denominational boards. To purchase a piece click on the title.
