Lenny left seminary in 1967 to teach high school English, Latin and Theology for the next five years. Deeply involved with the Jesus Movement, he continued to write songs and lead worship with his guitar in the Catholic Charismatic movement and Pentecostal churches. For more than 25 years, he has led worship in almost every denomination of the church. Lenny continues to give seminars on song-writing and worship leadership in churches throughout the country. His debut CD, “Deep Calls to Deep,” is being released on the Sounds familyre label. It includes his most successful song, “Our God Reigns,” and fourteen more of his praise compositions. Fascinated
by the mystery and depth of the Christ story, Lenny Smith entered seminary at
age 17, and received his BA in Philosophy. During the next seven years there, he
pursued Masters’ degrees in English Literature and Theology. It was also there
that he wrote his first scripture song, for guitar, “The New Jerusalem.”
