Allegro Spiritoso For Orch (W Pt-Mvt 3) – Sc – Sym Orch

$25.00

Description

ALLEGRO SPIRITOSO by Robert James Dvorak is Movement 3 from West Point Symphony and a vibrant, exhilarating work! Created in 1952, but not published until 2007, it quotes songs known to West Point Cadets. This is the orchestral edition of the exciting work written for the Sesquicentennial celebration of the US Military Academy Band in West Point, New York, in 1952 when Dvorak was its director which was originally conceived in symphonic form. It is a scherzo—joyful, yet determined in mood. Its musical themes come from traditional West Point songs—”Away, Away, Away We Go,” and “Benny Havens, Oh!” The accompanying figures are from The Corps. Its triumphant ending portrays the eager feelings of the graduating cadet who, surviving the uncompromising four years at West Point, understands the true meaning of “Duty, Honor, Country.” Its counterpart for Symphonic Band has become standard repertoire! Symphony Orchestra. Score. Grade: 5 Duration: 6:23
