Description
ANDANTE FROM THE SURPRISE SYMPHONYby Josef Haydn (1732-1809) is arranged by Joel Blahník. This is a spoof on a well-known theme inspired by the humorous arrangement for the Gerald Hoffnung Music Festival. In England of the mid-20th century this arrangement, 50 years later, is a condensed echo of that musical jargon. The musical gamery is obvious and the borrowing of motifs from other well-known classical themes should provide an enjoyable sense of relief from classical “seriousness!” Humor gives energy to life! Chamber Orchestra. Score. Grade: 3-4 Duration: 3:25
