Maria, Mater Gratiae – SATB

Description

This is a hauntingly beautiful anthem. The elegant melody is first stated by the sopranos, but the organ accompaniment is already bringing subtle harmonic shifts that are alluring. The full choir joins in and willingly participates in the harmonic coloration. The sounds seem multicultural and that would be true, as the composer is from Eastern Europe and the sounds of this area are influencing his creativity.
