Plenty Good Room – Three Spirituals For Tb Voices – TB divisi – Digital

This is one of a set of three spirituals that offer a fresh and thrilling take on a timeless theme and is part of the “Rock My Soul” Choral Series, co-edited by Brandon A. Boyd and Brandon Waddles, which celebrates the music of Black composers and the Black experience. The trilogy headlined under “Heaven, My Home,” includes “Lord, I Just Can’t Keep From Crying,” “I’m A Poor Lil’ Orphan in Dis World,” and “Plenty Good Room,” pieces accessible for advanced Tenor-Bass choirs. Waddles masterfully weaves a recurring theme of longing and searching for “home,” central to the Negro spiritual tradition. This trilogy reflects the balance between acknowledging harsh realities and holding onto hope for a brighter future.
