Description
SYMPHONIC SCHERZO, op. 65a by Karel B. Jirák (1891-1972) and edited by Joel Blahník is a work of great magnitude. A virtuosic work with soli action working in various combinations of timbre and dialogue. A work of incredible stature by a gifted composer birthed at the dawn of serious American band music composed at the request of Louis Blaha, Morton High School Band Director in Cicero, IL. Its orchestral edition was performed by the Chicago Symphony. Its 6/8 motion provides a great deal of energy! A composition well worth study and performance! Concert Band. Score.
